Dear Catholic School Families,
This has been a trying time for all of us as we confront coronavirus/COVID-19. The rapidly evolving news stories surrounding this pandemic have undoubtedly caused you great concern. Even as we make preparations for a future unknown, we pray that our decisions will protect the children we serve.
With the information available to us and out of deep concern for you, our families, the Diocese of San Diego is calling for a closure of all its Catholic schools, including preschools, beginning Monday, March 16, 2020. Our timeline going forward will be informed by the Center for Disease Control & Prevention, the County Office of Education, and San Diego Health & Human Services Agency.
It is important for you to know that our schools have been working over the past weeks to prepare for such an event. To keep our students engaged, learning, and in community with each other during a trying time, we have prepared and provided our schools distance learning resources. Principals will be communicating specifics about the implementation plan for your school.
There are obviously many factors to consider here. There will be economic, social and educational impacts that we can anticipate, and others that we can’t yet foresee. Equally important, making the right choice by way of prevention in this instance may preserve lives.
Please know that the safety and well-being of your children remains our top priority. We will continue to share updates with you as this situation evolves. May Christ continue to bless you and your family.
In Mission,
John Galvan
Director, Office for Schools Diocese of San Diego

From the San Diego County Office of Education: There is great news about food security for families. Beginning March 16, any student age 2 to 18 can go to any school site providing meals and receive food during this time of school closures due to COVID-19. SDCOE has provided a list of confirmed food service sites<https://www.sdcoe.net/news/Pages/20-03-13-student-food-service-during-district-closures.aspx> where students can have access to meals during these closures. SDCOE will be updating this page as more information is available.
